Menthol brings a cold sensation into a hot room. These are crystals rather than an oil, made from 100% natural essential mint oil, and a small amount dissolved in hot water changes the character of the steam: still hot on your skin, distinctly cold in your airways.

Why crystals

Crystals dissolve in hot water, not cold, and you control the intensity. A crystal is about 3/16 in (0.5 cm) across. Start with 1 to 3 small crystals and add more if you want it stronger. A 25 g bag lasts a long time at that rate.

What it feels like

The contrast is the point. Heat on the skin, cold on the breath.

Using it

Dissolve the crystal in a ladle of hot water and pour as normal. Never let crystals touch the elements of an electric heater. Store the bag outside the sauna: the crystals melt at about 106°F (41°C).
