The Pisarainen is a single teardrop of soapstone with the dial set into it, so it reads as part of the room rather than an instrument hung on the wall.

Reading it

An easy-to-read temperature scale. This is the Celsius version; the same thermometer is also available in Fahrenheit.

Soapstone

Soapstone absorbs heat gently and holds it, so the body of the thermometer warms with the room.

Made by Hukka

Karelian soapstone, made in Tuupovaara, Finland by Hukka Design.

Accuracy, honestly

Saunas have hot and cold spots even within a small room, and a dial thermometer like this is indicative rather than scientific. Our thermometers are calibrated within a reasonable range.
