Bongossi is named after the dense African hardwood. It is one of the four Livos ALIS colours we stock for outdoor saunas.

One can, three jobs

Sealer, protective oil and stain in a single product, applied once.

It will not peel

Because the oil goes into the wood rather than across it, there is no film to fail. Maintenance means washing the surface down and putting on a thin coat, with no sanding unless the surface is damaged.

Protection

UV protection against discolouration and weather resistance in all conditions.

Applying it

Clean, dry, bare wood only, never over paint, stain or varnish. Roller, brush or spray gun. Allow 12 to 24 hours between coats.

Coverage

Coverage depends on the surface: rough-sawn or profiled boards take considerably more oil than planed or sanded ones, and the rougher the wood, the darker the finished colour. Test on an offcut first.

Light Teak, Sesame, Bongossi and Black are all available. Colour varies with the wood and its roughness, so test on an offcut first. MELDOS is the separate product for the inside of the hot room; ALIS is exterior only.
