Finnish Sauna Salt Ritual
ILMARI KUURA™ is designed to create a slower and more atmospheric Finnish sauna experience where heat, steam, stone and KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt interact naturally throughout the sauna session.
At the center is Finnish heat-storing soapstone combined with KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt. As the sauna warms, the natural stone gradually absorbs heat while the salt responds softly to warmth and humidity, becoming part of the sauna atmosphere over time.
Unlike traditional sauna salt products, ILMARI KUURA™ is a reusable Finnish sauna object for home saunas and carefully curated premium environments.
It is not meant to make sauna bathing more complicated - but to gently slow the rhythm of the experience through heat, steam and natural materials.
How It Works
ILMARI KUURA™ is placed on top of the sauna stones before heating, allowing the Finnish soapstone to gradually absorb and store heat throughout the process.
Sauna water is poured normally onto the sauna stones, not directly onto the base. The natural moisture that reaches the product is enough to activate the KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt as part of the experience.
This helps maintain:
- A softer sauna rhythm
- Longer KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt lifespan
- A more stable soapstone temperature
One KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt typically lasts approximately two months with sauna use twice per week.
Natural Materials & Long-Term Use
Because ILMARI KUURA™ is made from genuine Finnish soapstone and exposed to continuous temperature variation, natural patina, color variation and subtle surface changes are part of its character over time.
Like sauna stones, soapstone evolves gradually through use and heat.
The base includes a small safety margin for moisture and sauna water. A new KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt should be added once the previous one has been almost fully used.
Refilling naturally becomes part of maintaining the experience.
