The supporting hardware that goes around a wood-burning sauna heater: chimney sets to vent the smoke, heat shields and wall plates to protect combustible surfaces, and a water tank if you want hot water from the same stove. Everything on this page is stainless steel, sized for the 115mm chimney outlet that fits Leisurecraft, HUUM, and Harvia heaters directly (Narvi needs an adapter). Ships Canada-wide.

Sauna Chimneys & Shields

Chimney sets and adapters.

Two main chimney configurations on the page. The chimney set for out-the-top is for vertical runs straight up through the ceiling - the standard setup for most outdoor saunas and any build with clear roof access. The chimney set for out-the-side with elbow vents through a wall using a 90-degree elbow at the heater - the right call for installs where running through the roof isn't an option. We also stock a chimney set for out-the-side without the elbow for builds using a different elbow configuration. Both sets fit Leisurecraft, HUUM, and Harvia stoves directly via the 115mm outlet that's standard on those brands. Each set is 8 inch outside diameter with 1-3/4 inch of insulation around the outside.

Narvi heaters need an adapter, and there are two different ones depending on which chimney you're connecting to. The Narvi heater to 6 inch chimney adapter connects Narvi heaters to North American 6 inch chimneys - used for top-venting installs. The Narvi heater chimney adapter is the one required when pairing a Narvi heater with our Leisurecraft chimney set. Two different products, easy to mix up - check the product name carefully against your install plan.

Heat shields and wall plates.

Three plates on the page, each doing a different job. The 23 x 42 stainless back wall plate with hole mounts where the chimney passes through a wall on out-the-side installs - the hole is for the chimney pipe to penetrate. The 23 x 42 stainless back wall plate (no hole) mounts behind the heater itself as a heat shield, protecting combustible wall surfaces and letting you reduce required clearance to combustibles per CSA B365. Most builds use both - one for the chimney pass-through, one behind the heater. The 23 x 30 stainless steel floor plate sits under the heater as floor protection, standard for any build with combustible flooring under the install zone.

Water tank and installation hardware.

Two optional pieces for specific install conditions. The water tank for chimney holds 30 liters (7.5 gallons) and mounts on out-the-top chimney installs only - useful for cottage and off-grid builds where you want hot water from the same heat source as the sauna. 12 inch diameter, 20 inch tall, 115mm intake matching our chimney parts. The 23 x 30 adjustable installation base is a stainless-steel platform for installs where the heater needs to be raised off the floor or where you want a clean stainless-mounting surface under the heater. Neither is required - both solve specific install conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Which chimney set do I need - out-the-top or out-the-side?

Whichever fits your building structure. Out-the-top is the simpler install if you have clear roof access above the heater - vertical run, fewer joints, less heat loss. Out-the-side is the answer when you can't go up because of roof framing, a second floor, or other obstructions overhead. Building code and your installer's preference factor in too; in Canada, your WETT-certified installer should confirm which configuration suits the specific install.

Which adapter do I need for my Narvi heater?

It depends on which chimney you're connecting to. Use the Narvi heater to 6 inch chimney adapter when connecting to a North American 6 inch chimney (typically for top-venting installs). Use the Narvi heater chimney adapter when pairing the Narvi with our Leisurecraft chimney set. The two adapter products do different jobs and aren't interchangeable.

Do I need a heat shield with my wood-burning sauna heater?

Probably yes, depending on clearance. Every wood-burning heater has a published clearance-to-combustibles spec on its rating tag and in the installation manual - those are the source of truth. Heat shields built to CSA B365 specs can reduce required clearance by up to 67%, which matters in tight builds. Most installs use the back wall plate (no hole) behind the heater plus a floor plate underneath. Your WETT-certified installer can confirm what the install needs.

Can I install the water tank on a side-venting chimney?

No - the water tank only mounts on out-the-top chimney installations. The tank is designed to sit on the vertical chimney run above the heater, where rising heat warms the water. Side-venting configurations don't have the vertical run above the heater needed to mount it.

What size chimney pipe do these sets use?

115mm outside diameter at the heater connection, 8 inch overall outside diameter on the chimney itself with 1-3/4 inch of insulation. The 115mm outlet matches Leisurecraft, HUUM, and Harvia stoves directly. Narvi heaters use a different outlet size and require one of the two adapters listed above.
